Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the second T20I in Rawalpindi on Sunday to seal the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead. Maaz Sadaqat made 96 from 51 balls and Sahibzada Farhan scored 73 from 44 as Pakistan posted 215 for three, their highest T20 total on home soil. Mohammad Imran then took three for 11 to dismiss Sri Lanka for 133 for seven.

Sadaqat and Farhan added 88 runs for the second wicket in 49 balls after three dropped catches helped the pair. Sadaqat struck seven sixes and six fours before being dismissed on the final ball of the innings, while Farhan hit five sixes and four fours. Pakistan added 70 runs in the final five overs, surpassing their previous best home T20 total of 208 for three against West Indies five years ago.

Sri Lanka's chase never gained momentum. Maheesh Theekshana remained unbeaten on 32 and Chamindu Wickramasinghe made 29, but only Kamindu Mendis with 23 and Sineth Jayawardena with 22 reached double figures alongside them.

CricHubb Take

The margin and total both point to a deeper gap in white-ball depth between the sides that has widened since Sri Lanka's last bilateral series win against Pakistan in 2019.
