Mumbai Indians signed United States left-arm pacer Tara Norris in a trade deal worth Rs 10 lakh ahead of the WPL 2027 auction. Norris, who was part of the UP Warriorz squad in WPL 2026 but did not play a match, becomes the first player in WPL history to be signed via trade.

The 28-year-old has represented the USA in 17 T20Is and taken 21 wickets. She previously played five matches for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2023 and featured in the Women's Hundred and Women's Big Bash League. MI stated Norris adds depth and versatility to their bowling attack.

Mumbai Indians' updated WPL squad includes Harmanpreet Kaur, Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Shabnim Ismail. The auction is scheduled for 28 October at the Grand Hyatt Kochi.

The trade signals MI's intent to secure proven left-arm options early, reducing their reliance on the auction where overseas swing bowling depth remains thin.
