Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque suffered a head injury while fielding at short leg during the Dhaka Test against West Indies. The incident occurred in the 78th over of West Indies' first innings when Mominul attempted to catch Joshua Bishop off Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Mominul was ruled out of the remainder of the match due to concussion. Jaker Ali Anik was named as the concussion substitute and batted at number five after Bangladesh reached 33 for four.

The injury leaves Bangladesh without one of their most experienced batters for the remainder of the Test. Jaker Ali's promotion in the order changes the middle-order structure for the home side's second innings.

CricHubb Take

Short-leg fielding carries constant risk yet teams rarely adjust positions when a key batter is involved. Bangladesh now face the practical problem of replacing both his runs and his close-catching ability in a single move.
