West Indies name Roston Chase as Test captain for Bangladesh tour
West Indies named Roston Chase as Test captain for the two-match series in Bangladesh starting October 28.
West Indies have named Roston Chase as Test captain for the two-match series in Bangladesh starting October 28. Shai Hope is rested ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers, and Alzarri Joseph has been withdrawn for workload management. Shamar Springer comes in for Keemo Paul.
The first Test runs from October 28 to November 1 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The second follows at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from November 5 to 9, both starting at 10am local time.
West Indies last visited Bangladesh in 2021 and won that series 2-0. Chase now leads a side missing several senior players as the team tries to finish inside the top five of the current World Test Championship cycle.
CricHubb Take
Chase has never captained a Test side before, so the Bangladesh tour doubles as an audition for the longer format while Hope and the white-ball core stay fresh for the qualifiers.
