Bhuvneshwar Kumar added to India T20I squad as cover for Arshdeep Singh

Bhuvneshwar Kumar recalled after four-year T20I gap; provides swing option if Arshdeep unfit.

CricHubb2h ago

Bhuvneshwar Kumar joined India's T20I squad for the series-deciding match against West Indies in Bengaluru. The 36-year-old was called up after Arshdeep Singh suffered a shoulder injury in the fourth T20I.

Kumar last played a T20I in November 2022. He has taken 26 wickets in 18 IPL matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium with an economy rate of 8.45. His experience in swinging conditions and variations across phases could address India's bowling concerns in Jasprit Bumrah's absence.

A decision on Arshdeep's participation will be taken before the match based on his recovery.

CricHubb Take

Kumar's recall tests whether proven IPL consistency at a venue outweighs the selectors' preference for younger options in a must-win bilateral fixture.
