BCCI announces India squad for Afghanistan T20Is with four players under fitness cloud
BCCI names India squad for Afghanistan T20Is; four players including Bumrah subject to fitness clearance, Hardik Pandya ruled out.
The BCCI announced India's 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side for the matches scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi between September 13 and 17.
Four players including Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy were selected subject to fitness clearance. Sanju Samson returns to the squad after missing the Zimbabwe tour.
Hardik Pandya was not considered after developing a leg niggle during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The series serves as preparation for India's Asian Games campaign in Japan later this month.

The inclusion of four players still awaiting fitness clearance reveals that India's selection policy now prioritises squad depth over guaranteed availability, a shift from the previous approach of naming only match-ready players.
