16000. Babar Azam reaches international runs milestone in 399 innings
Babar Azam joined Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and Javed Miandad in Pakistan's 16,000-run club.
Babar Azam became the fifth Pakistani batter to reach 16,000 international runs during the opening ODI of the tri-series against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi on Sunday. He needed seven runs at the start of the match and reached the milestone with a three off Asitha Fernando in the fourth over.
Babar finished with 45 off 57 balls before being dismissed by Eshan Malinga, bringing his career totals to 6,633 ODI runs, 4,771 Test runs and 4,596 T20I runs across 355 international matches. He trails only Mohammad Yousuf and Javed Miandad among Pakistani batters for the fewest innings required to reach the landmark.
The tri-series continues with matches in Rawalpindi before moving to Lahore, where the final is scheduled for October 31. All three participating teams have already qualified for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Reaching 16,000 runs in 399 innings places Babar among Pakistan's elite but still 49 innings behind Virat Kohli's world record, highlighting the different career trajectories of the two modern greats.
