Shaun Tait returns to Pakistan as fast-bowling consultant after previously coaching the side from 2022 to 2023.

Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait is set to return to the Pakistan national team as a fast-bowling consultant. Tait will reach Pakistan early in the coming week and join the squad after meeting with officials at the Pakistan Cricket Board. He previously served as Pakistan's bowling coach from 2022 to 2023.

Tait most recently worked with Bangladesh and stepped down over concerns about working full-time in a year-round role. He wants to spend more time with his young family. It remains unclear whether Tait will work with the white-ball teams, the red-ball team or all of them.

The Test side recently lost its bowling coach, Umar Gul, who was sacked midway through the Test tour of England. The Test head coach's job is also vacant after Sarfaraz Ahmed's sacking. White-ball coach Mike Hesson took over initially during the tour but his long-term status is uncertain.

The appointment fills a gap created by Umar Gul's mid-tour dismissal and provides continuity for Pakistan's pace attack ahead of upcoming bilateral series.
