Bangladesh captain Litton Das ruled out of UAE tri-series with hip injury
Bangladesh captain Litton Das was ruled out of the ODI tri-series in the UAE after failing a fitness test for a right hip injury.
Bangladesh captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the ODI tri-series in the UAE against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan after an MRI revealed a slight issue in his right hip joint. He failed to clear the required fitness test and will miss what was scheduled to be his first series as full-time captain. Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy will lead the side for the first time, becoming the 18th player to captain Bangladesh in men's ODIs.
Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said Litton complained of discomfort in his right hip yesterday, had an MRI done, and could not meet the required benchmark despite attempting a fitness test. The injury also means Litton misses the series after previously leading the side in seven ODIs. Senior all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also been ruled out of the opening match against Zimbabwe after suffering from fever for the past three days.
Bangladesh named their playing XI for the first match against Zimbabwe: Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy (captain), Mosaddek Hossain, Saif Hassan, Nurul Hasan (wicketkeeper), Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman. Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Hridoy's appointment marks a shift from a settled captaincy structure to one where leadership duties now rotate across formats and series. The timing, just before a World Cup build-up year, places an inexperienced captain in charge of a squad already missing two senior players.
