Chamari Athapaththu, 36, is the oldest player listed for the WPL 2027 auction. She will be auctioned with a base price of Rs 30 lakh alongside 145 other players.

Athapaththu scored an unbeaten 178 against Australia in the 2017 Women's World Cup and 61 in the 2024 Asia Cup final against India. She played four matches for UP Warriorz in the 2024 WPL, scoring 28 runs and taking three wickets.

A total of 146 players, including 119 Indians and 27 overseas players, will go under the hammer. The auction is set for later this month.

CricHubb Take

Her modest returns in the 2024 WPL hide the fact that she remains Sri Lanka's leading run-scorer across formats, which may tempt teams looking for a low-cost overseas anchor who can also bowl.
