Aaryavir Sehwag named captain of Delhi Under-19 squad for Vinoo Mankad Trophy
Aaryavir Sehwag, 18, will captain Delhi Under-19s in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy starting October 8.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association has named Aaryavir Sehwag to lead their Under-19 side for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy One Day Tournament 2026-27. The 18-year-old right-handed batter, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, takes on his first significant captaincy role at the domestic level. The tournament begins in Visakhapatnam on October 8.
Aaryavir featured in all three Youth ODIs against Australia in Rajkot, scoring 109 runs with a best of 47. He also struck 297 in the 2024 Cooch Behar Trophy for Delhi against Meghalaya. Arnav Bugga has been appointed vice-captain.
The 16-member squad includes Tanmay Chaudhary, Dhanya Nakra, Uday Chawla, Garv Kumar and Abhiraj Gagan Singh as wicketkeeper.

The appointment gives Aaryavir a platform to convert promising starts into substantial scores while learning leadership. His near-triple century in the Cooch Behar Trophy already marks him as a long-format prospect. The one-day tournament will test whether he can adapt that temperament to limited-overs pressures.
