Brian Devine, aged 38, received a two-year ban from all cricket after an incident in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League. He was found to have allegedly clicked his fingers to fake an edge. Footage of the incident went viral during the English summer. The ECB imposed the sanction following an investigation.

The club was also fined by the ECB. Saltburn CC’s second XI was relegated and received a 60-point deduction for the next season. The team accepted the penalties handed down by the governing body.

The relegation and points deduction will affect Saltburn CC’s standing in the regional league structure for the coming campaign.
