Suryansh Shedge emerges as India ODI contender
Suryansh Shedge is in contention for India's New Zealand ODI series after impressive List A performances.
Mumbai seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has emerged as a contender for India's ODI squad for the New Zealand tour after strong performances against Australia A. The 23-year-old took four wickets in one List A match and scored 66 in another following his return from a hamstring injury.
A BCCI source told PTI that Shedge's selection would allow Nitish Kumar Reddy to focus on the Test series as the fourth seamer. The five-match ODI series begins November 4 in Auckland, with the fifth ODI in Tauranga on November 15.
India's tight scheduling between the ODIs and the first Test in Wellington on November 19 has prompted selectors to consider an expanded ODI squad. Shedge's improved bowling has caught attention amid concerns over Hardik Pandya's fitness.

The compressed schedule between white-ball and red-ball assignments exposes India's thin all-rounder depth that selectors must address beyond this tour.
