PCB chief Naqvi cites India’s Ireland loss after Pakistan’s England series defeat

Mohsin Naqvi says India’s defeat by Ireland shows even leading sides can lose unexpectedly.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said top teams also suffer unexpected results after Pakistan lost the Test series in England 3-0.

Naqvi pointed to South Africa’s defeat by Namibia and India’s loss to Ireland as examples that no side is immune to poor performances. Several Pakistan players have been sent home ahead of the third Test, which begins on 9 September.

The board is reviewing the squad composition and support-staff arrangements for the remainder of the tour.

CricHubb Take

Naqvi’s comparison is aimed at domestic critics rather than the England team. By naming India and South Africa, he signals that Pakistan’s white-ball and red-ball setbacks are being treated as part of a global pattern, not an isolated crisis requiring immediate sackings.
