Aliss Al Islam earns maiden ODI call-up for Bangladesh tri-series

Aliss Al Islam earns a maiden ODI call-up as Bangladesh finalise their squad for the tri-series, with Litton Das returning as captain after injury.

Bangladesh named a 16-member squad for the Afghanistan-Bangladesh-Zimbabwe tri-nation ODI tournament with off-spinner Aliss Al Islam included for the first time in the format. The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad on Saturday for the tournament running from October 17 to 23 in the United Arab Emirates.

Litton Das returns to captain the side after missing the ODI series against Zimbabwe in July through injury, with Towhid Hridoy named as his deputy. Hasan Mahmud has also been recalled while Saif Uddin and Parvez Hossain Emon were omitted. Fast bowler Nahid Rana is unavailable due to injury.

Aliss has played only one T20I so far and could make his ODI debut during the tour. Bangladesh face Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on October 17 before taking on Afghanistan in Sharjah on October 21, with the final scheduled for October 23.

CricHubb Take

Selecting a bowler with just one T20I appearance for an ODI tournament shows Bangladesh are willing to blood untested options when established players are unavailable.
