BCCI begins search for Agarkar's replacement on the men's selection committee with applications due by October 14.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited applications for one position on its men's selection committee following the end of Ajit Agarkar's tenure as chairman. Agarkar, who took over in 2023, decided against seeking an extension after his contract expired on October 4.

Pragyan Ojha will serve as interim chairman and will chair the meeting to select India's squads for the upcoming New Zealand T20Is, ODIs, and Tests. The new committee member will be responsible for selecting the senior national men's team across all formats and identifying emerging talent.

Applicants must have played at least seven Tests, or 30 first-class matches, or 10 ODIs alongside 20 first-class appearances. Candidates must have retired from cricket for at least five years. The deadline for applications is 5:00 PM IST on October 14.

CricHubb Take

The short application window and specific eligibility criteria suggest the BCCI wants to complete the appointment before the New Zealand series begins, limiting the scope for prolonged debate over the panel's composition.
