India face West Indies in the second T20I of the five-match series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday. The hosts lead the series 1-0 after Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102 and Naman Dhir's 3 for 31 secured an eight-wicket win in Lucknow.

Shreyas Iyer's century came off 43 balls and combined with an unbroken 137-run stand with Ishan Kishan to chase 172 in 14.4 overs. West Indies had posted 171, with half-centuries from Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford offset by Dhir's three wickets on debut.

India's squad for Ranchi includes Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma. West Indies named Shai Hope as captain and wicketkeeper alongside Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Matthew Forde, Romario Shepherd, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase.

CricHubb Take

Dhir's 3 for 31 on debut is the sort of performance that forces selection panels to choose between loyalty and utility. If he repeats it on a Ranchi pitch that usually helps spin, the debate over India's second spinner slot becomes a numbers argument rather than a reputation one.
