The Board of Control for Cricket in India appointed former fast bowler Parvinder Awana as chairperson of the Junior Selection Committee on Thursday. Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav were named as the other members, with a fifth member to be appointed shortly. Awana represented India in two T20Is and took 191 wickets in 62 first-class matches for Delhi.

Awana retired in July 2018 and subsequently coached Delhi's Under-16, Under-19 and Under-23 teams, worked with India Under-19 and contributed to BCCI high-performance programmes. Krishna Das claimed 166 first-class wickets for Assam and Goa. Rakesh Patel represented Gujarat and Baroda, while N. Arjun Yadav played 83 first-class matches for Hyderabad and has served as a BCCI match referee since 2022.

The Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, conducted the selection process. The committee will oversee selections for India's junior teams once complete.

The committee's composition, drawn entirely from domestic playing and coaching backgrounds rather than international stars, signals the BCCI's intent to strengthen the age-group pathway through experienced domestic operators.
