Pragyan Ojha set to become interim BCCI chief selector

Pragyan Ojha will serve as interim chairman of India's selection panel while the BCCI identifies Ajit Agarkar's permanent successor.

CricHubb30 Sept 2026

Pragyan Ojha is expected to step in as interim chairman of India's senior men's selection panel once Ajit Agarkar's term ends on October 4. The former left-arm spinner sits ahead of RP Singh, SS Das and Ajay Ratra on the five-member committee because he has played the most Tests — 24.

The BCCI has given its office-bearers authority to name the committee, but the permanent replacement is expected to take weeks. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel remains the name most often mentioned for the full-time role, though nothing has been confirmed.

CricHubb Take

The choice of a bowler to lead selection could tilt future squads toward players who have shown they can survive tough overseas conditions rather than just rack up domestic runs.
