Jonassen and Wyatt-Hodge ruled out of WBBL|12 with injuries
Jess Jonassen and Danni Wyatt-Hodge will miss WBBL|12 due to hip and calf injuries respectively.
Jess Jonassen and Danni Wyatt-Hodge have been ruled out of the upcoming WBBL season. Jonassen will miss the entire season with a hip complaint, while Wyatt-Hodge sustained a calf injury.
Jonassen, Brisbane Heat's most-capped women's player, last played on October 1 in the WNCL. She said the plan is to return for the 2027 WNCL season after a period of recovery.
Wyatt-Hodge was Hobart Hurricanes' leading run-scorer in their title-winning WBBL|11 campaign. Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu has been signed as her replacement.

Both players sat out significant portions of last season too, which raises the question of whether WBBL franchises are adequately planning for recurring injury patterns in their core players.
