Parthiv Patel withdraws from BCCI chief selector race over pay
Parthiv Patel stepped aside after calculating the BCCI salary would leave him financially worse off.
Parthiv Patel has withdrawn from the race to become India's chief selector over financial concerns. Reports indicate the BCCI offered Rs 3 crore annually, but Patel would have had to give up his Gujarat Titans coaching role and commentary assignments.
Patel was considered a leading contender after Ajit Agarkar parted ways with the board earlier this month. His decision leaves South Zone representative Pragyan Ojha leading the panel while a West Zone member is still to be appointed.
The board is yet to name Agarkar's successor.
