Report claims tension between Mandhana and Harmanpreet over captaincy
Sources report strain in the relationship between the new and former captains following the leadership transition.
A team source told NDTV Sports that Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur had not been seeing eye to eye for some time, creating unease in the dressing room. The report followed Mandhana's appointment as India women's captain after Harmanpreet stepped down.
The source said the captaincy issue had become a point of friction between the two players who previously had a good relationship. Mithali Raj had earlier questioned the delay in elevating Mandhana to the captaincy role.
Harmanpreet will continue as a player in the side. The source indicated that both players will need to set aside their differences for the team's benefit.

The bigger question is whether Mandhana's appointment was meant to be a clean break or a gradual handover, and how quickly the selectors will want to see the two working together.
