Jharkhand lodge complaint with BCCI after one-run loss in Women's Under-19 match
Jharkhand have complained to the BCCI after losing a Women's Under-19 match by one run due to an alleged scorer's error.
The Jharkhand Cricket Association has lodged a formal complaint with the BCCI after losing a Women's Under-19 match against Uttarakhand by one run in Nagpur last Tuesday. Jharkhand claim an official scorer's error cost them the match and their place in the tournament.
Uttarakhand posted 134 for 6. Jharkhand were bowled out for 133. The association alleges that at 29.4 overs one of their batters was run out attempting a second run. The official scorer recorded only the run-out and failed to add the completed single, while the ground scoreboard showed the correct total. Jharkhand needed two runs to win off the final ball and managed one before another run-out.
The team argued with the scorer but the umpire followed the official record. Jharkhand finished one run short and were eliminated from the tournament.

If the scorer's entry stands, Jharkhand's batters may now wonder whether every junior match they play carries an invisible asterisk on the final scorebook.
