Abhishek and Tilak lead India to Asian Games gold
Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma powered India to a 19-run win over Pakistan in the Asian Games T20 final.
Abhishek Sharma scored 61 off 28 balls and Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 off 22 as India defended 211 to beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the Asian Games T20 final on October 3. The world number one T20I batter struck seven sixes in his 28-ball knock while the vice-captain anchored the innings on a pitch that eased after a tricky start.
India reached 211 for 6 before Hasan Nawaz's 96 off 51 kept Pakistan in the chase at 192 for 6. Jasprit Bumrah finished with figures of 0 for 33 in four overs while Washington Sundar took 2 for 29.
The victory extended India's head-to-head dominance over Pakistan to 6-0 since the start of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The gold medal also provided relief for skipper Shreyas Iyer following a difficult start to his national captaincy.
