Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is likely to be selected for India's upcoming tour of New Zealand despite suffering a hamstring injury in the second ODI against the West Indies. The 30-year-old pacer was ruled out of the third match after bowling only five overs in Guwahati.

India will travel to New Zealand in the third week of October to play five T20Is, five ODIs and two Test matches. According to a Cricbuzz report, Prasidh's hamstring injury is not considered serious enough to rule him out of the tour, and his selection will depend on clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence.

Bengal fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has also come into contention for the New Zealand Tests after his six-wicket haul in the Irani Cup for Rest of India. Akash Deep also impressed in the Irani Cup after recovering from a lower-back stress fracture.

CricHubb Take

The decision to consider Prasidh despite limited recent match practice signals that the selectors still view him as a frontline option rather than a depth choice for the 2027 World Cup cycle.
