Maia Bouchier scored 104 from 95 balls to guide England to a record women's ODI run chase at Grace Road on Tuesday. England reached 283 for four to surpass Ireland's 281 for five with six wickets and 71 balls remaining.
Ireland posted three individual fifties in their total. Bouchier struck 11 boundaries during her innings. Alice Capsey kept wicket for England for the first time at international level.
The result gives England a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Ireland.
