BCCI rules out Director of Cricket role for VVS Laxman
BCCI confirms it will not create a Director of Cricket position for VVS Laxman.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed after the board's review meeting on 3 September that the board has no intention of creating a Director of Cricket position. Media reports suggesting Laxman would take the role were dismissed.
The clarification came during the same meeting that discussed Rohit Sharma's ODI future and player workload management. Laxman continues in his role as head of the Centre of Excellence.
The board is focusing on structural adjustments within existing positions rather than adding new layers of oversight.
CricHubb Take
The rejection of the Director of Cricket role signals that the BCCI prefers to keep selection and coaching lines separate. Adding a new position would have blurred accountability between the national selector and the head coach.
