ICC anti-corruption chief warns of risks in legends leagues
Ephgrave said players are increasingly reporting potential corruption activities to the ICC.
ICC Anti-Corruption Unit chief Andrew Ephgrave described tournaments featuring retired players as a grey area that could damage cricket's reputation. He noted that many such events operate without official sanction and fall outside established structures. Ephgrave recalled corruption allegations during the 2024 Legends League Cricket in Sri Lanka. He said the key challenge is distinguishing between exhibition events and officially recognised competitions.

Ephgrave's concern is not about the cricket. It is about the line between heritage and exploitation. Once that line blurs, the corruption risk stops being theoretical.
