Meg Lanning and Annabel Sutherland powered Melbourne Stars to an opening win in the Women's Big Bash League. Hobart Hurricanes lost their first game of the season.

The pair's batting contributions proved decisive in the match. Melbourne Stars took advantage of their strong top-order depth.

Hobart Hurricanes will look to bounce back in their next fixture after the early season setback.

CricHubb Take

Stars' early success suggests their top-order batting depth could prove the difference in a competition where middle-order collapses often decide tight games.
