Devajit Saikia admits India's overseas struggles

Devajit Saikia says the BCCI discussed strategies to address India's overseas performance issues.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia didn't dodge the issue. India lost eight of nine white-ball games in England and Ireland this summer, and the board sat down in Mumbai on Thursday to work out what to do next.

The schedule ahead gives them little breathing room: a trip to New Zealand followed by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home. Saikia said the BCCI is trying to cut player workload, but the bigger problem is overseas results.

To stay in the World Test Championship hunt, India must win both Tests in New Zealand.

The workload cuts won't fix the overseas gap unless the selectors also start picking players who have proven they can bat or bowl in those conditions rather than just at home.
