Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a four-player trade ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards joined CSK, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis moved to SRH. Livingstone's trade value was reduced to six crore rupees from his previous 13 crore.

Khaleel Ahmed played five matches for CSK in 2026 before a quadriceps injury. Ravichandran Ashwin said SRH gained more from the trade and that CSK may be planning further squad moves for the auction. SRH might release Harshal Patel, Dilshan Madushanka and possibly Pat Cummins ahead of the retention deadline.

Cummins was retained by SRH for 18 crore rupees. His availability for IPL 2027 could be affected by Ashes and ODI World Cup commitments.

Ashwin's assessment that SRH gained more from the deal points to a strategic reset at CSK, where trading away proven overseas talent suggests a pivot toward Indian core building.
