Shai Hope sets multiple ODI records with unbeaten 162 against India
Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 162 to guide West Indies to their highest successful ODI chase against India.
West Indies captain Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 162 to lead his side to a five-wicket win and complete the highest successful run chase by a West Indies batter in ODI history. Hope's 162 off 143 balls surpassed Chris Gayle's previous mark and made him the first West Indies batter to score 150-plus in a successful chase against India.
Hope reached his 21st ODI century in 152 innings, joint-third fastest alongside Quinton de Kock and David Warner. He also became the most prolific ODI centurion among wicketkeeper-captains with eight hundreds.
West Indies chased 352 in 48.2 overs after India posted 351 for 7, with KL Rahul unbeaten on 129. Hope added 62 runs with Gudakesh Motie in the final 29 balls to seal the chase with 10 balls remaining.

Hope's innings exposed India's inability to defend totals above 350 even on home pitches, a warning sign with the 2027 World Cup less than a year away and the bowling attack still missing Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
