Shoaib Akhtar in line for PCB role after Naqvi talks
Shoaib Akhtar could move from critic to decision-maker after talks with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi following Pakistan's England series defeat.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi last week to discuss cricket matters, a source close to the board said. Akhtar is understood to be in line for a major posting within the cricket think tank.
The discussions follow Pakistan's 3-0 Test series defeat in England and come after Naqvi offered support to Akhtar following a family bereavement. The former pacer presented his own set of ideas and conditions for improving Pakistan cricket during the meeting.
The PCB is also considering foreign coaches and consultants for national teams, alongside a permanent head coach for the women's side. Changes to the cricket think tank are expected soon.

Akhtar's appointment would test whether an outspoken former player can influence selection and coaching decisions that he once criticised from outside.
