Harmanpreet Kaur ended her captaincy after leading India to the ODI World Cup and multiple other titles.

Harmanpreet Kaur announced her decision to step down as India women's captain after leading the side to the ODI World Cup title last year. She remains the only captain besides Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni to win a World Cup for India.

Harmanpreet led India to the Asia Cup and Asian Games titles this year, and captained the side to a historic Test victory at Lord's. She scored 89 in the World Cup final and made 56 off 27 balls in a must-win T20 World Cup match against Australia.

In her Instagram post, she said the decision was not easy and that she had put the team's interests ahead of her personal ambitions throughout her tenure. India will now appoint a new captain ahead of upcoming commitments.

Her departure closes a chapter where India finally converted potential into silverware, but it also raises the question of whether the next captain can maintain the same consistency across formats that she delivered.
