Renuka Singh Thakur ruled out of ODI series against Zimbabwe

BCCI rules out Renuka Singh Thakur from the ODI series as she continues building bowling workload; Jintimani Kalita replaces her.

India Women will start their three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe without Renuka Singh Thakur. The BCCI said the fast bowler is still building the volume required for 50-over cricket at the Centre of Excellence, so the selection panel named Jintimani Kalita in her place.

Kalita was part of the T20I squad that swept Zimbabwe 3-0 in Raipur and has now joined the team in Baroda. The first ODI is on October 23 in Vadodara. Kalita travelled with the squad and gives India another pace option as they switch formats.

India arrive off their clean sweep in the shortest format and must adjust their bowling combination without Renuka's experience in the longer white-ball game.

The next three ODIs will show whether Kalita can translate her T20 rhythm straight into a longer format, or whether India need to accelerate Renuka's return at the risk of another setback.
