Harmanpreet Kaur remains India women's captain after BCCI review

BCCI review leaves Harmanpreet Kaur's captaincy intact across formats.

Indian women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur's position across formats remains secure after a review meeting with BCCI officials in Guwahati on Monday. The meeting, chaired by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, focused on assessing team progress rather than leadership changes.

The session included Harmanpreet, deputy Smriti Mandhana and head coach Amol Muzumdar. The team has won the Women's Asia Cup and Asian Games gold medal since a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign earlier this summer. Women's chief selector Amita Sharma's attendance at the meeting remains unclear.

The women's selection committee meets Tuesday to pick the squad for a six-match white-ball series against Zimbabwe, which begins with three T20Is in Raipur on October 16, 18 and 20 before moving to Vadodara for three ODIs on October 23, 26 and 28.

CricHubb Take

The absence of controversy around this review meeting, unlike the men's equivalent, suggests the women's setup has avoided the political flashpoints that often accompany leadership questions in Indian cricket.
