Kent have triggered contract extension clauses for seamer Matt Milnes and batter Sam Northeast, meaning both players will remain with the county until the end of the 2028 season. Milnes took 54 wickets and Northeast scored 890 runs during the 2026 campaign as Kent won promotion back to Division One of the County Championship.

Northeast, 36, and Milnes, 32, both rejoined Kent at the start of the season after spells at other counties. Kent director of cricket Simon Cook said the club is delighted with both players' performances in their first seasons back at Kent and is pleased they will remain Kent players until at least 2028.

Northeast finished as Kent's leading run-scorer while Milnes was the county's top wicket-taker in the promotion-winning season.

CricHubb Take

Kent's decision to lock in both players reflects the value of experienced domestic performers in a county system where overseas recruitment remains restricted.
