Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel says Pakistan will be happy with the 2027 ODI World Cup schedule, released by the ICC on Thursday. He thinks the target is the Super 7, not the semi-finals.

The 12 teams are split into two groups of six. Pakistan sit in Group A with India, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A. The top three from each group move forward, along with the best fourth-placed side, and no points carry over.

India open against Australia in Cape Town on October 7 and face Pakistan in Johannesburg three days later. The tournament runs from October 2 to November 21 across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The schedule hands Pakistan a realistic first checkpoint, but it also sets up an early India clash that will test whether the team can back up the modest target with results.
