Lancashire decide not to renew Anderson's contract
Lancashire declined to extend Anderson's contract after a poor season. The seamer took 50 wickets but the county finished near the bottom of Division Two.
Lancashire decided not to renew James Anderson's contract. The 44-year-old had captained the county last season and took 50 wickets in the County Championship. Lancashire finished second from bottom in Division Two.
Anderson said the meeting was brief and he was told the team would move forward without him. He added that he expected a discussion about the team's performance. The left-arm seamer said he wanted to see his career out with Lancashire.
Anderson stated that he does not know if his career is finished and is still processing the decision after 10 days. Several counties are reportedly interested in signing him, though a move to Yorkshire appears unlikely.

Anderson's departure leaves Lancashire without their most experienced bowler at a time when the county needs leadership and wickets to climb back up the table.
