Gujarat Titans may release Glenn Phillips and Shahrukh Khan ahead of IPL 2027 auction
Gujarat Titans may release underperforming middle-order batters Glenn Phillips and Shahrukh Khan to create funds for IPL 2027 reinforcements.
Gujarat Titans are considering releasing Glenn Phillips and Shahrukh Khan ahead of the IPL 2027 auction, according to a Press Trust of India report. The franchise is not planning a major overhaul but may free up funds by parting with both middle-order batters. Phillips and Shahrukh were signed for a combined ₹6 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Shahrukh Khan scored 179 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2025 but managed only 43 runs in nine matches in 2026. Phillips did not feature in any match in 2025 and scored 67 runs in six matches in 2026. The report suggests the franchise has greater faith in 25-year-old South African batter Connor Esterhuizen.
Releasing both players would give Gujarat Titans additional purse flexibility to strengthen their middle order during the December auction.
