Suryakumar Yadav says he was disappointed after T20 World Cup snub

Suryakumar Yadav has spoken for the first time about his disappointment after being dropped from India's T20I squad following the World Cup win.

Suryakumar Yadav said he was disappointed after being dropped from the India squad following the T20 World Cup victory earlier this year. The former captain addressed the decision publicly for the first time since his removal from the side. Shreyas Iyer was named as his replacement.

Yadav had led India to the title at home and expected to retain his position. He stated that when everything was going well there was no reason to change the leadership. The decision came despite his role in the tournament win.

Yadav said he remains focused on returning to the T20I setup and fighting for his place in the team. He has not ruled out a comeback in the shorter format.

The move raises a question for selectors: if a captain is dropped without a drop in form, what criteria now decide who leads the side after a trophy?
