India chased 406 to beat West Indies by eight wickets in Guwahati on Wednesday. Shubman Gill stayed not out on 223 off 133, and Rohit Sharma's 101 set up a 255-run opening stand that left the result in little doubt. The target beat India's previous best chase and became only the second time a men's ODI side has successfully hunted down 400 or more.

Gill's 223 wasn't just the highest score of the chase — it showed how quickly India's top three now eat up the powerplay overs that used to belong to the bowlers.
