Darcie Brown has been ruled out of Weber WBBL|12 after failing to recover from a disc injury sustained during Australia's A tour of India last month. The 23-year-old fast bowler will miss the entire tournament, which concludes on December 5.

Brown was assessed after returning from India, where she took 3 for 39 in the second ODI against Bangladesh. Despite a three-week rest period, the injury has not improved sufficiently for her to resume training.

The setback is a blow to Adelaide Strikers' pace attack as they aim to return to the finals. Coach Luke Williams said Brown will remain an important part of the squad through mentoring younger players. Anesu Mushangwe has been re-signed for a fourth season to bolster the spin options.

CricHubb Take

Brown's absence shifts greater responsibility onto Megan Schutt and Tahlia McGrath while testing whether Eleanor Larosa and other young quicks can fill the gap left by one of Australia's most promising fast bowlers.
