Pragyan Ojha is the frontrunner to replace Ajit Agarkar as India's chief selector ahead of the New Zealand tour.
Pragyan Ojha has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Ajit Agarkar as chief selector. Ojha has been appointed interim head of the four-man selection committee. Head coach Gautam Gambhir held lengthy discussions with the selection committee on the eve of the ODI series against West Indies. The committee members, including Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra, R P Singh and Ojha, were seen with Gambhir at the Barsapara Stadium. Agarkar was not present. The panel is finalising India's squad for the all-format tour of New Zealand starting October 22. The tour includes five T20Is, five ODIs and three India A matches.
