Rohit Sharma took five wickets for 36 runs as Jammu and Kashmir bowled out Madhya Pradesh for 196 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group A match in Srinagar on Sunday. Sunil Kumar took four wickets for 69 runs. Shubham Sharma top-scored for Madhya Pradesh with 79.
Rohit returned to first-class cricket after two years and showed little sign of rust against an inexperienced Madhya Pradesh batting line-up. J&K won the toss and chose to bowl first. The hosts ended the day at three for one after Avesh Khan trapped Shubham Khajuria leg before wicket.
Madhya Pradesh had three debutants in their ranks. Captain Shubham Sharma added 65 runs for the fourth wicket with debutant Chanchal Rathore and 51 runs for the seventh wicket with Aryan Pandey.
