Muhammad Rizwan cleared to resume domestic cricket

Muhammad Rizwan receives PCB clearance to play domestic cricket while the NCCA inquiry into betting and leaks continues.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Rizwan has been cleared by the PCB to return to domestic cricket. He'll captain Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the Presidents Cup first-class tournament starting October 19.

Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were pulled from England's tour after the second Test in August. Both players now face an NCCA inquiry over alleged leaks of dressing-room information and online betting concerns.

Rizwan has already given evidence twice. A source close to the inquiry says it could be concluded soon after his October 10 session in Lahore. He hasn't played competitive cricket since Lord's.

Rizwan's clearance means the board is willing to separate the domestic calendar from the criminal investigation. The awkward question now is whether Imam-ul-Haq will receive the same green light, and what that split decision would signal about the two cases.
