Mithun Manhas says fitness, not age, decides Kohli and Rohit selection
Mithun Manhas says fitness and performances, not age, should decide Kohli and Rohit Sharma's 2027 World Cup prospects.
BCCI president Mithun Manhas said on Tuesday that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup should rest on fitness and form rather than age. The final decision lies with selectors and coaches.
Manhas noted that experienced players can ease Shubman Gill's transition into ODI captaincy alongside Jasprit Bumrah's leadership of the bowling attack. He added that India's growing player pool helps manage a crowded international schedule.
Manhas spoke at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar during Madhya Pradesh's Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir.

By shifting the criterion from age to output, the BCCI president gives selectors room to retain both seniors if they remain match-winners.
