ICC moves Women's Champions Trophy to India after removing Sri Lanka
ICC strips Sri Lanka of hosting rights and awards inaugural Women's Champions Trophy to India for February 2027.
The International Cricket Council has shifted the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy from Sri Lanka to India. The six-team T20I tournament will be played from February 14 to 28, 2027, at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka lost hosting rights after the ICC cited governance concerns during its July annual conference. India replaces the original host while Sri Lanka retains its place in the six-team field that also includes Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa.
India enter as holders of the Women's ODI World Cup, while Australia arrive as Women's T20 World Cup champions. All matches will be staged across the two venues, with the ICC Board ratifying the change on September 1, 2026.
