Report claims Abhishek Sharma unhappy with SRH captaincy decision
Report says Abhishek Sharma is unhappy with SRH’s decision to name Ishan Kishan captain; franchise denies claims.
A report in the Times of India claims that Abhishek Sharma is frustrated with Sunrisers Hyderabad after the franchise appointed Ishan Kishan as captain for the 2026 season while Pat Cummins was injured. The left-handed opener scored 563 runs in 15 matches last season, including an unbeaten 135.
The report suggests Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals could be interested if Abhishek becomes available. SRH CEO K Shanmugam denied the speculation, stating there is nothing to the claims. Abhishek’s father was seen wearing an SRH jersey while celebrating India’s Asian Games gold medal.
Abhishek has been with SRH since 2019 and is currently ranked second in the ICC T20I batting rankings.
