Abdullah Fazal ruled out of Pakistan Test series against West Indies and England

Pakistan opener Abdullah Fazal suffered a lower back injury during training ahead of the first Test in Tarouba and won't feature in the ICC World Test Championship series against West Indies and England.

Shafique and Shakeel are in to replace him — Shafique hasn't played Tests since October 2025, while Shakeel's return comes sooner than planned. On the West Indies side, Tagenarine Chanderpaul's been recalled to open after John Campbell was ruled out with injury.

Pakistan handed a debut to Ali Usman in that first Test. West Indies reached 194 for three on an rained-on opening day at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, with Kavem Hodge making an unbeaten 83. Only 67 overs were possible.
